  • What to expect?

A Musical Memories session will be based on a theme! The session will be curated around this theme and involve singing and saxophone performances.

Participants will be invited to singing along, play percussion instruments and do movement to music throughout the session.

There will also be space for the participants to reminisce as musical memories are unlocked.

Each session is run by Rebekah, a HCPC registered Music Therapist!

  • What are the benefits?

Playing music and singing in a group can help to boost wellbeing, build social connections and help to reduce feelings of loneliness.

Familiar music can evoke memories and emotions which can provide mental stimulation and enhance cognitive abilities such has memory recall. It can also bring a sense of identity to the person experiencing the music.

  • How to access?

Community Musical Memories sessions are free and held every last Tuesday of the month at The Pill Millennium Centre.

The group is open to elderly members of the community with a focus on those living with dementia and their relative or carer. We are an inclusive group and welcome people from all backgrounds including adults with a learning disability.
