My name is Rebekah, I am a HCPC registered Music Therapist, professional saxophonist and founder of Music For Joy.
The name Music For Joy isn’t only about bringing JOY to people through the power of music but also in memory of my wonderful Nanny Joy. Music played a pivotal role in my upbringing, largely influenced by my Nanny Joy and parents. I began dance lessons from a young age and I started playing saxophone at the age of 8. I have experience playing in jazz bands and orchestras.
I graduated from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts with a BA(hons) Music in 2019. Gaining experience in composing and music production as well as further strengthening my saxophone skills. I graduated from the University of South Wales with a Masters in Music Therapy in July 2024. Throughout my training I had placements in a nursery, care home and hospice.
I have ample experience in healthcare settings. Alongside my studies I have been working part time as a healthcare assistant in a hospital. I have previous experience working as a care assistant for people living with dementia and end of life care. I have also worked as a support worker for learning disabled adults and children.
Since launching Music For Joy in January 2025, I have begun providing music therapy sessions in care homes, community groups, schools and much more. I was awarded a small start up grant from SWEF and Community Foundation Wales.
